Experimental Study on Ice Melting of Bridge Tower Crossbeams under Different Conditions

The bridge tower beams of long-span bridges freeze during winter. accumulated ice on the beam flakes off and falls into deck from a high altitude with temperature rise, threatening traffic safety. To solve this problem, an electric heating method is used to melt snow beams. A design scheme based embedding carbon fiber wires in proposed which electrical energy converted heat beam. In paper, icing test de-icing are carried out through laboratory model test. results show that under conditions wind speed 4.5 m/s ambient −15 °C, average internal after stabilization 1.37 °C; higher than critical 1.31 °C. This sufficient proves practicability method. embedded simple, efficient, environmentally friendly. can provide reliable reference for practical application
